They Lost Someone Also

There was a poem that was read at the funeral of a dear friend, L.C. Campbell. It was part of one of his sermons and those words are so true after the loss of a loved one. There is much more to it and its not a direct quote, but here it is : “He who goes is happier than those who he leaves behind.”

In our case Brianna passed away almost 12 years ago. Cindy and I had three other children that were faced with their own grief. Yes we lost our first born, our daughter but Bryce, Brandon & Brylie lost their sister, best friend and roommate as well. So we all lost someone very special in our life and it would be easy for us to crawl into a hole never to be seen again.

But parents and siblings need to be aware of your own loss and not lose sight of others. If we focus on ourselves then what happens to their feelings. In our case I would grieve early in the morning and Cindy was late at night. So we could be there for each other. In many cases these children lost a sibling and they cant afford to lose a parent as well. So take the time you need and be there for those left behind…..
